November's Best Bits!

As a long time die-hard Harry Potter fan, the obvious best part about November was the release of Part One of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows. I was lucky enough to go to the midnight screening of the film, and fell completely in love with the characters all over again. Seeing Harry and Ron, and especially Hermoine acting so 'adult' now, as opposed to school kids, makes me feel like I have grown up alongside them. I'll admit, the movie is much scarier than any other. I actually jumped about three times. But overall it was amazing. I wish it were July of 2011 already so I could be raving on about Part Two!

November is otherwise known as Movember. Here, many men across the country join forces with their face, and grow various mustache's in support for Men's Health issues.  This year in particular was bigger than ever. Throughout the whole of Movember, many of my friends (who could grow facial hair) were accompanied by a face friend. They created growing groups, held mustache parties and above all raised much needed funds and awareness for prostate cancer and depression.

November saw me working a hell of a lot. But I am proud to say that sunny days off were not put to waste. These adventurous days were spent either relaxing at the side of a natural water basin, picnicking in the park or exploring the wonders of Sydney's Taronga Zoo.

November was also "Aus Music Month" on Triple J. This meant that my love for Australian Music continued to manifest, and I was even able to discover some new loves. At the end of Aus Music Month, Triple J held their infamous J Awards. While Tame Impala took out the big one winning album of the year, I was more concerned with the Unearthed contenders. Not surprisingly, Sydney based Boy & Bear were the lucky recipients of this years Unearthed award. Awarded to an artist demonstrating the most musical growth and potential to contribute to Australian music, I think Triple J made the best choice!

November also held the second announcement for Big Day Out 2011. With favourites like Washington and Sia being added to the bill, receiving my tickets in the mail last week was ever so lovely!

November is always jam packed with birthdays. I especially loved drawing inspiration from bygone generations and partying alongside some of my best friends in true 70's style.

As the end of Spring, November is always the perfect time of the year to update my farm. This year however, my ducklings from last season had all grown up and started becoming mothers to their very own ducklings. Thanks to Jules (the mumma duck), November is now the birth month for thirteen lovely new babies. She is now sitting on a dozen or so new eggs, so stay tuned for an update on their arrival.

What did you love November for?

  1. oh.my.gosh - so cute! I'd love some duckies, but I think my dogs may make a quick meal of them unfortunately & that would be very upsetting! Can't wait to hear more about the little babiessss xx
